The future of work is here, and it’s not you being cooped up in the same old office 40 hours a week. With remote working, you can work at the beach or in a foreign city thousands of miles away. The options are endless!
Remote work boomed in popularity over the past few years, and many digital nomads are on the hunt for the next work-cation (work +vacation) destination to visit.
If you see yourself working on a project proposal at a cafe while taking a quick surf during your breaks, head on to Siargao.
Located in Surigao del Norte, Philippines, Siargao captured the hearts of both local and international travelers for its world-class surfing spots, white-sand beaches, lagoons, and laid-back island vibes.
Drawn by the island living and laid-back culture, many digital nomads are flocking to the island, staying in hostels, homestays, or Airbnb for a few months before deciding to move permanently.
Get ready to live the island life without cutting your work duties. Here are 7 places you can visit while remote working in Siargao.
Internet Connection at Siargao
Internet connection on the island also varies depending on the weather and proximity to a signal tower. Expect 5-50 Mbps internet speed – reasonable enough to handle decent bandwidth work (getting online, social media, and moderate calls). For a steady signal, your best bet is to stay in Catangnan, General Luna, as most network satellites are located here.
Telecom companies are now addressing the connectivity issues on the island, so look forward to a faster internet connection and wider coverage around the island soon.
Although many cafes and coworking spaces offer free Wi-Fi in Siargao, we recommend you bring your personal internet connection as a backup. Secure a Globe or a Smart sim card with at least LTE coverage. You can also opt to buy pocket wifi from these two providers.
