Pilar is one of the municipalities in Surigao Del Norte. It is most popular for the Magpupungko Lagoons and its distinctive rock formations.
The municipality also hosts game fishing tournaments and is home to Paghongawan Marsh which is the habitat of endangered freshwater crocodiles.
Finally, Pilar has a massive mangrove forest reserve and beaches that one can explore via a 15-20 minute boat ride from the town proper.
The Caridad property of Paradise Siargao is located on the shoreline of the municipality of Pilar. It has a view of the extensive Philippine sea.
